Dear Teachers,

Stage 1 of the InstaLogic Maths and Computing Challenge began on 1 October and will run for four weeks. Registration remains open until 28 October at 7 p.m. Each registered student receives an individual account where they can complete the tasks at any time during the stage. We warmly encourage you to register and take part.

The challenge is open to students in Years 7-11. Participation is free of charge, and all stages take place online.

This stage features three tasks - Trains, Merchants, and Token - designed to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students in Years 7-9 have 40 questions to answer, while those in Years 10-11 have 60. The tasks are already available on the website, and participants can revise their answers until the end of the stage.

The InstaLogic Challenge lasts six months and gradually introduces students to programming and computational thinking - from simple mathematical problems to writing their own programs. Between the three stages, free learning materials and online courses are available to support students in their learning.

The challenge is designed for both students with programming experience and for those who enjoy maths and are just beginning their journey into computing. Our goal is to show that STEM subjects can be engaging and accessible to every student willing to give it a try.

InstaLogic is an international maths and computing competition first held in 2019. This year, for the first time, it is being brought to schools in England. In last year’s edition, 18,200 students took part, with 5,700 reaching the final stage.

We hope your school will take part in the challenge. We believe that InstaLogic offers an excellent opportunity for students to test their skills, discover their potential, and build confidence in the digital world of the 21st century.
