Collaboration is such a powerful tool in the primary classroom. However, when combined with digital tools, it takes teamwork to a whole new level! πŸš€

Last term, to tie in with our oceans topic in Geography, my Y5 students took part in an amazing project with the Marine Conservation Society. πŸ¬πŸ’πŸ πŸ™

After an online session with their education team, hearing about the amazing work the charity does to protect our oceans, children were set the challenge to create their own ocean conservation charity complete with a working website and campaign video. Technology was at the centre of the whole project:

🩡 Canva logos to create a clear brand for their charity

πŸ“Ή Canva videos to share their learning in a campaign video

πŸ‘©πŸ»‍πŸ’»Google Sites to bring it all together and share their charity’s mission

Throughout the project, children shared their work with their team via Canva or Google Classroom. The immediate feedback ensured a consistent brand ran through all of their content. By the end of the project, all 5 team members were working on the same website at the same time 🀯 There were so many mature conversations over consistent fonts and colour schemes leading to professional standard websites. The teamwork on show was a joy to see.

To finish, we met up again with the Marine Conservation Society as they gave feedback to all the groups and announced the overall winners. A truly inspiring project to be a part of with digital collaboration at the heart of it all! 🀩

Here is the winning website by the Friendly Ocean Federation (complete with Canva mock-ups)! Hard to believe it was made by 10 year olds!
