Better Programming Feedback

A few years ago I spent three hours on a Sunday writing detailed comments on 28 Year 10 programs. On Monday, one student read them.
That sent me down a rabbit hole of feedback research (the EEF's review of written marking found the evidence base "remarkably thin", and Kluger and DeNisi found a third of feedback interventions actually harm performance) and a lot of classroom trial and error. The result is a short guide: four techniques that replaced most of my written marking, including live marking with pre-planned prompts and whole-class feedback, plus three printable tools (a peer review card, a focused mark scheme, a pre-marking checklist).
