Free KS3 MythBusters Scheme of Work – Media & Digital Literacy (CS)
If you’re a CS teacher who remembers QCA KS3 Year 8 Unit 10: Information – reliability, validity and bias (or the Teach-ICT Myth Busters version), then:
- you deserve a medal for long service (!), and
- you’ll recognise that what goes around comes around — just without the helpful suggestion that pupils should “search CD-ROMs”.
Up-to-date KS3 MythBusters Scheme of Work (slides + worksheets)
It ticks a lot of the boxes when it comes to media literacy as mentioned in the curriculum review.
It sits comfortably within KS3 Computer Science, but also aligns well with PSCHE.
Included:
• Information reliability
• How information spreads
• Fact, opinion & bias
• Fake news (disinformation, misinformation)
• Online information trust
• Investigating a claim
• From information to evidence
• Searching & prompting
• The hidden filter
