English Key Stage 7-11 year (KS2), 11-14 year (KS3)

In this worksheet, learners create a Pac-Man inspired game on the micro:bit, a small programmable computer. The activity is designed for use with the micro:bit classroom tool, offering a supportive environment for every learner, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Learning Objectives:

1. Program the micro:bit’s accelerometer to steer a Pac-Man sprite and implement collision-based scoring with randomly placed Pac-Dots.
2. Code a ghost sprite that pursues Pac-Man and scale its speed and spawn rate to create a rising difficulty curve.
3. Test and refine gameplay using player feedback to balance challenge, demonstrate the iteration process, and explain how it keeps the game engaging.

This activity will be the theme of an upcoming CAS physical computing workshop in early 2026.
