Updated: After teaching this for a year, we have moved some units and reworked several others. This pretty much covers the draft Computing Programme of Study.

=======================================================

This curriculum map is our plan for Key Stage 3. The map was created in summer 2012 and has had some alterations since.

Our Key Stage 3 Computing curriculum has two main strands which are Creative and Computer Science. There are also two sub-strands which feature throughout each unit. These are Communication and Using Computing. Thus we have a mixture of units across the two main strands, which I feel gives a balanced curriculum.

Units are colour-coded based upon the topic. For some topics, there may be a pre-requisite unit that will be completed in the previous year.

How we use this: In each year, we plan to complete 5-6 units (roughly one per half term) so in years 8 and 9, each class will not complete every unit. The class teacher decides which to do, although we are moving towards making some compulsory with others optional
