A set of three packs of materials created by Jeremy Scott on behalf of the RSE and the BCS to support the teaching of Computer Science at the junior level of Secondary School and develop pupils computational thinking skills. Here is the home page, which gives access to all three packs, and accompanying material.

  • Pack 1- Introduction to Computer Science (Starting from Scratch). An introduction to Computer Science and programming using Scratch.

  • Pack 2- Intermediate Computer Science (Itching for More). Exploring further Computing concepts including modularity and abstraction using BYOB.

  • Pack 3- Mobile App Development (I love my Smartphone). Consolidating previous Computing concepts through the medium of mobile applications development.

  • Pack 4- An introduction to Web Based Systems (Information Everywhere) Supports aspects of the Information Systems Design & Development Unit of the Scottish National 4/5 Computing Science qualifications. It can also be used to support to support a number of Level 3/4 Computing Science outcomes within Curriculum for Excellence.

Level: Beginner and Intermediate

Duration: 7-12 lessons for each pack

Teaches: Computational thinking skills, developing software using basic programming concepts in Scratch, BYOB, AppInventor and simple web development using HTML and some CSS
