Curriculum Assessment and Review Final Report

- Citizenship to be compulsory, ensuring all pupils learn media literacy and financial literacy, law and rights, democracy and government, and climate education.
- The narrowly focused computer science GCSE will be replaced with a broader, future-facing computing GCSE
- Exploration of a new qualification in data science and AI for 16–18-year-olds.

Empowering Teachers: Inspiring Young Minds
We are proud to share the latest BCS report that celebrates the incredible achievements of the CAS community and outlines our aims for the future.
Since its inception in 2008, CAS has grown from a grassroots movement into a nationwide force, reaching 90% of UK schools and supporting over 3.5 million pupils. This success is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, educators, and partners who work tirelessly to ensure every child has access to high-quality computing education.
EduBlocks: From Blocks to Text
This brand new resource, developed by CAS, is a structured KS3 unit by Computing at School that helps 11–14 learners bridge the gap between block-based coding and text programming in Python.
Using the EduBlocks environment, students drag and drop familiar blocks while instantly seeing the equivalent Python syntax, mastering variables, loops, and selection without the syntax barrier.
With fully planned lessons, slides, and progressive practice tasks, this resource gives teachers a supportive and confidence-building pathway to transition pupils from visual logic to writing real World Python code.
