Fully Funded AI Programme for Greater Manchester Schools

AI is already changing the way we work, learn and interact with technology. For young people, understanding what AI is and how it may shape the careers they move into is becoming increasingly important.

InnovateHer is currently inviting secondary schools across Greater Manchester to take part in a fully funded AI programme for students in Years 8, 9, 10 and/or 12.

The programme is designed to help students build their understanding of AI, explore how it is already being used across a wide range of careers and consider how technology may influence their own future choices.

AI isn't just for Computing students

One of the key aims of the programme is to reach beyond students who already identify as being interested in computing or technology.

AI is increasingly influencing careers across almost every sector. We want students to recognise that understanding AI could be relevant whether their interests lie in technology, healthcare, sport, finance, engineering, the creative industries or somewhere else entirely.

The programme also gives teachers additional opportunities to introduce conversations around AI, careers and the changing world of work.

What does the programme include?

Depending on the year group taking part, schools can access a combination of:

  • AI Inspiring Assembly – introducing students to AI and helping them consider where they may already encounter it.

  • AI Role Model Talk – giving students the opportunity to hear directly from someone working in or alongside technology.

  • Online learning courses, including Introduction to AI, Careers in AI and AI in Careers and Ethics in AI.

  • Interactive AI workshops for selected year groups, giving students an opportunity to explore some of the ideas in more depth.

Schools can take part with Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and/or Year 12 students, with the programme adapted depending on the age group involved.

There is no cost to schools to participate.
