Celebrating computing education at the CAS Conference 2025

The CAS community came together for the national CAS Conference over the autumn half term for a day of inspiring, thought-provoking and practical workshops and sessions. There was also the chance to catch up with fellow computing teachers to build and strengthen their own networks.

The day was opened by the headline sponsors Craig ‘n’ Dave who welcomed everyone, describing their honour at being able to support the original grass roots community for computing teachers. We also took the opportunity to remember Neil Rickus and recognise his incredible contribution to both CAS and Barefoot.

The mix of sessions on offer throughout the day was incredible and reflected the diverse interests and expertise of our community. Many of the sessions were led by current teachers, sharing first hand and up-to-date experience from the classroom. The range of sessions on offer reflected the full breadth of our community, from using stories to introduce computational thinking to the youngest learners, to developing esports and effectively integrating AI. The CAS Conference is truly a showcase of the community in action and the buzz on the day as people caught up with old friends or met in person for the first time was wonderful to see.

The morning was rounded off by Baasit Siddiqui who, as a former teacher himself, gave an inspiring and enjoyable keynote.

Thank you to all of our speakers and workshop leaders who volunteered their time, our hosts Bromsgrove School (particularly Johnny Palmer and Fran Round for their help), and the sponsors and exhibitors for helping make the CAS Conference 2025 even bigger and better than last year!

Finally, huge thank you to all the teachers who attended for your enthusiasm and active engagement. Your contributions were instrumental in creating a vibrant, collaborative atmosphere and ensuring the day truly reflected the strength of our community.
