Supercharging Lessons with Brisk: AI Tools in Action
Key Takeaways:
-
Brisk is a free AI Chrome extension that helps teachers quickly generate adaptable classroom resources.
-
Teachers can turn webpages or documents into interactive activities, quizzes, podcasts, and chatbots.
-
The tool supports adaptive learning and literacy with built-in vocabulary and reading level adjustments.
-
Brisk is GDPR-compliant and student-friendly, requiring no student accounts.
-
The live demo showed how Brisk can transform even a cover lesson into an engaging, feedback-rich learning experience.
In this session, we explored how the Brisk Teaching Chrome extension can streamline lesson planning and deepen student engagement using AI. Led by Aileen Wallace, a classroom teacher and Brisk ambassador, the session provided a clear and practical walkthrough of how Brisk fits into everyday teaching.
Aileen began by describing her own journey into educational technology, prompted by the arrival of ChatGPT in early 2023. Now a daily user of AI in her modern studies lessons, she introduced Brisk as a tool that allows her to plan and deliver interactive, differentiated, and accessible resources with minimal effort.
The Brisk extension integrates directly into Chrome or Edge, appearing as a small button on any webpage or uploaded document. With one click, teachers can generate:
-
Simplified articles suitable for different reading levels
-
Vocabulary lists with definitions
-
Multiple-choice or short-answer quizzes
-
One- to two-minute podcasts
-
Interactive chatbots with built-in feedback and formative assessment
A standout feature is Brisk’s ability to ground all chatbot responses in the teacher-provided materials, rather than pulling information from the wider web. This ensures a safe, focused environment for learners. Moreover, because Brisk doesn’t require student accounts and complies with GDPR, it meets many school policies around data privacy.
Aileen gave a step-by-step demo using a live BBC weather article. Within minutes, she generated an adaptive reading resource, added vocabulary and quiz questions, and created a short podcast. She concluded with a chatbot activity, which provided immediate feedback to students while also giving teachers real-time insight into learners' progress.
Anecdotally, she shared how the chatbot feature transformed a disengaged S2 class into a focused, collaborative group as they competed to achieve their learning objectives. Students appreciated the feedback and autonomy, while Eileen could monitor every interaction live from her dashboard.
While Brisk currently integrates best with Google tools, resources can be easily copied into Microsoft formats if needed. The session wrapped up with a reminder of the Brisk Teaching Plans page, which outlines the differences between the free and paid versions (most core features are available for free).

Generate a short quiz and assign it to your class via Google Docs or Forms.
-
Create a chatbot based on a topic you’ve just taught and use it for revision or independent learning.
