Title: Code a Joke-Telling Talkbot Using Apps Script

• Teachers will learn how to deliver an Apps Script coding project “Code a Joke-Telling Talkbot”, using a ready-made teaching resource within Google Applied Digital Skills.
• Within the activity, students will write a program in Apps Script, making use of a starter project, they then create a test deployment of their talkbot and edit their code. Next, they debug their code and add comments to describe their conditional statements. Finally, they complete their talkbot web app and swap with a classmate to test their code.
• Suitable for KS3 teachers

This workshop will be delivered by Danielle McKernan, a member of the Senior Leadership Team at St. Patrick’s Academy Dungannon, leading the school’s strategy for Digital Learning.  An experienced educator with 20+ years experience teaching computer science and software systems development.  She is the N. Ireland Regional Lead for the Google Educator Group, GEG NI, a Google for Education Trainer and Coach and a member of the NI ICT Innovation Forum.
