CAS Yorkshire Online: Celebration event (sorry: cancelled due to illness)
Local Community
Online
Well done for surviving all that this year has thrown at you! Computing teachers are worth their weight in gold and we're lucky to have such an experienced and friendly community across Yorkshire. Whilst this year's not over yet, now that SATS, GCSE and A Levels are under way I hope there'll be some time to reflect on what's gone well and what ideas we can steal from each other to make next year a little easier!
For the final CAS Yorkshire online event this year we're going to have a series of mini sessions celebrating something that has worked well. So far, these mini sessions include:
- Helen Cotton: Primary Computing transition and support
- Pete Dring: Extra curricular clubs and competitions (primary and secondary)
- Chris Sharples: switching GCSE CS exam boards (secondary)
If you've got something that you'd be willing to share (5 mins) we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch (dringp@fulford.york.sch.uk or c.sharples@stem.org.uk)
Primary and secondary teachers are welcome including those unlucky folk who don't yet live in Yorkshire.
Schedule:
8:00pm: Welcome
8:05pm: Short presentations sharing what's worked well this year:
8:45pm: Leave if you like or stick around for general chat
9:00pm: End
Hosted by Chris Sharples and Pete Dring. To register a place, you'll need to be signed in here to see the red register button, which will give you the instructions to join online.
We'd love to get more people involved in hosting and leading CAS community events. Do get in touch if you have any ideas and suggestions.
We know that there's no perfect time that everyone can make but we really want to support small departments and individual computing teachers. This year we've tried to alternate between 4pm and 8pm online slots. We'd be interested in your thoughts about plans for next academic year.
