Move and Code CPD Workshop
Local Community
Face to Face
In this 1 hour and 45 minute session Rebecca and Su will share how they use movement to teach the fundamentals of programming to Key Stage 2 students. The tasks used are simple and can be done by anyone with any level of movement experience to help your pupils understand computing in new and exciting ways.
Aims for the CPD
- Share content for 3 x one hour unplugged computing sessions for Key Stage 2 students
- Lesson plans for 3 x one hour unplugged computing sessions
- Further links to paper resources used in each lesson
These workshops can be further enhanced by including 2 additional sessions during which pupils build and code their own interactive lights using a Crumble controller, then put the lights and movement together for an interactive performance. We will share ways to access Crumble controllers and Crumble controller training as part of the CPD.
Rebecca and Su have been developing this method over the last 6 years as part of their larger Move and Code programme and are now interested in sharing it with teachers to use themselves in the classroom. Research and development of this programme has been supported by UCL's Interaction Lab, Studio Wayne McGregor and Paul Hamlyn Foundation Funding.
