A reminder about the Trust meeting next week Trust Science Leads Network meeting | STEM I need to let the school know final numbers and any dietary requirements, so if you plan to attend, please sign up before lunch time tomorrow!

Ideas for discussion that were put forward:

Ofsted- for KS4 requirement- how are you fulfilling this for your non- GCSE students?
Mocks- do you do trust wide mocks? Is there an appetite for cross trust mocks?
AAQ was raised- do you want to hear from exam boards or bring how you are making them work in your trust, or bring questions?
AI- are you the AI lead as well? Shaping Trust wide AI policy.
Anything else? Are there items you would like to share/discuss?
Recruitment and retention will also be covered in the afternoon- joining science leads.

A message to let you know about the first in-person Trust Computer Science Leads meeting.

You may be aware that the Trust Science leaders have had this for a couple of years.

The first in-person meeting will be:
Date: Wednesday, 16 July 2025. 10:00 - 15:30
Location: Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Manchester, Rayburn Way, Manchester, M8 8DT

This is the same date and location as the Trust Science leaders meeting, the agenda for which has already been written. Two of the items on the agenda are

Novel solutions to coping with specialist teacher gaps
Recruitment and retention

Which are also very relevant for computer science teachers, and we plan to bring the two groups together. This is a great why to network with your peers and share ideas, gain support and meet others in the same roles as you.
If you are attending, can you please book via Trust Computer Science Leads Network meeting | STEM. This will give me the numbers so that I can make arrangements for catering and the rooms.

I look forward to meeting you
Liz

Hi all
Thanks to those who could make it last night. Don’t worry if you couldn’t - here’s a summary:
In order to plan our next meeting which will be in person please select the dates you can do on this doodle poll: Doodle

We also discussed a year 7 survey. The idea is for you to send out the form to all year 7 students and then send me anonymised data so we can build a national picture. You can email the results to me on becci.peters@bcs.uk - please do this by Oct half term and include the region of the country where the students completed it. You can access the form via either Microsoft or Google (you’ll need to duplicate to make your own version and you can add additional questions if you want to). Microsoft version: Microsoft Forms Google version: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1cmotzrlZOlE3hz77q4AosjQRGLpBBKD9TjqE4oyE6AQ/copy

We also discussed the idea of creating an OCR GCSE mock paper which students could sit (which we would write so they won’t have seen it). Then we can collect scores and create grade boundaries if we’ve got enough students sitting it. We’re hoping to get OCR involved in this process. If you’re interested in being involved in either the writing and/or the setting of this paper, please complete this short form: Computing trust leads mock for OCR GCSE

Thanks so much to everyone for being involved. See you soon
Becci
