Regional Communities bring together local groups from across a wider area, creating opportunities to connect, collaborate, and share ideas beyond your immediate network. These overarching communities are designed to support and strengthen Local Communities by hosting regional events and encouraging cross-community connections.
Cyberfirst
CyberFirst is a government-backed outreach and education programme designed to create opportunities for talented young people in future-focused tech careers. CyberFirst supports students from all backgrounds to consider a career in tech – including cyber security, AI, quantum computing, software, data and more. Over the next few months readers will notice an increase in the use of TechFirst as CyberFirst remit is expanded.
From April 2026, As CyberFirst schools and colleges migrates over to TechFirst, the programme will also be available in the East Midlands, East of England, London and the South East of England.
BCS Branches
As part of its commitment to building a strong professional community, BCS supports a network of regional member branches across the UK. These local groups provide opportunities for members to connect, share knowledge, and get involved in events and activities relevant to their area. Whether you're looking to expand your professional network, attend local talks and workshops, or contribute to the wider digital community, your nearest BCS branch is a great place to start. Good Morning
The University of Sussex would like to share the opportunity for all female year 12 students to join them for Levelling Up - Computer Science.
From Monday 14th December to Wednesday 16th December 2026
Exciting FREE 3 day discovery lab for female year 12 students from all study routes (A-Levels, BTECs, Access Courses etc) to learn about computer Science at University. Students do not need to be studying Computer Science to join this event.
Please contact Levellingup@bcs.uk and we can send you out further details for students to sign up.
If you’re a Computing or Digital Lead looking for support, ideas and connections with colleagues, we’d love you to join us at our free network meeting.
During the session you’ll have the opportunity to:
Hear the latest updates in computing and digital education
Share experiences and challenges with fellow leaders
Discover practical tools and resources
Build your professional network
We warmly invite all teachers to join us at Reuben College, the University of Oxford, on Saturday 26th September, from 10am to 4pm, for an event celebrating youth voices in AI research.
The morning will set the scene by exploring key opportunities and challenges concerning young people and AI and will share the work of the Youth Advisory Group in shaping research in this area. In the afternoon, breakout discussions will give a chance for young people, teachers, and parents to share their views on AI and education.

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a free training opportunity that may be of interest to schools within your network.
The Code Club team is running a free, hands-on training session for school staff who want to improve their students’ access to coding, and explore Code Club’s free resources. No previous coding experience is required, beginners are very welcome!
The workshop is free to attend and will take place at FairspaceMK in Milton Keynes (MK9 3BN) on Thursday 23rd April 2026, 9:30am - 3:30pm.
Open to teachers, teaching assistants and wider school staff, this practical session will help you gain the skills and confidence needed to start and run an inspiring Code Club at your school.
On the day, you’ll get:
• Hands-on experience with Scratch and micro:bit
• Step-by-step guidance to get started confidently
• Information on our free resources
To support a staff member in attending the training, we are offering schools a bursary of £150 to help cover supply costs. This offer is limited to one bursary per school and will be paid directly to the school.
