Regional Communities bring together local groups from across a wider area, creating opportunities to connect, collaborate, and share ideas beyond your immediate network. These overarching communities are designed to support and strengthen Local Communities by hosting regional events and encouraging cross-community connections.

Cyberfirst

CyberFirst is a government-backed outreach and education programme designed to create opportunities for talented young people in future-focused tech careers. CyberFirst supports students from all backgrounds to consider a career in tech – including cyber security, AI, quantum computing, software, data and more. Over the next few months readers will notice an increase in the use of TechFirst as CyberFirst remit is expanded.

BCS Branches

As part of its commitment to building a strong professional community, BCS supports a network of regional member branches across the UK. These local groups provide opportunities for members to connect, share knowledge, and get involved in events and activities relevant to their area. Whether you're looking to expand your professional network, attend local talks and workshops, or contribute to the wider digital community, your nearest BCS branch is a great place to start. Levelling Up: Women in Computing & AI
Monday 29 June to Wednesday 1 July
For female or non-binary Year 12 students in North East England with an interest in computer science and AI.

Taking place over three days, this free non-residential summer school offers a fantastic opportunity to take a deep dive into the subject.

Students take part in a range of academic sessions covering topics such as:

Artifical intelifence and machine learning
Cyber security and digital forensics
Creative coding
Data science and environmental modelling
Human-computer interaction
Delivered by current female undergraduate and PhD students, students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard facilities and develop a clear understanding of what studying this subject could look like in their future.

They also get an introduction to applying to university and insight into student life.

Travel contributions of up to �50 are available to support with transport costs (evidence must be supplied and you must attend for all 3 days) and lunch is provided.

Ready to make your STEM lessons more impactful and less time-consuming?
Join this practical CPD session to discover how AI can streamline retrieval practice, boost collaboration and oracy techniques, and help you check for understanding with ease. Plus, learn prompt engineering strategies and much more to put you in control of technology that’s aligned with effective teaching and learning.

Hey! I’m part of the Code Club team at the Raspberry Pi Foundation and we are running a free training day for teachers who are interested in starting a club in their school but don’t know where to start. We’ll cover some basic Scratch/AI/Micro:Bit projects as well as offering ongoing support and training. There’s also a bursary of £150 towards supply costs too!
