
We are encouraging our members to share their views with Ofqal on how exam grades should be awarded following the cancellation of exams this summer.
Exam regulator Ofqal’s consultation on how to assess grades for opened on Wednesday and covers GCSEs, AS, A levels, Extended Project Qualification and Advanced Extension Award in maths.
Teachers are being asked to submit their views by the consultation closing date on Wednesday 29 April.
The consultation covers several areas including :
- allowing pupils in Year 10 or below to be given calculated grades,
- how the regulator should standardise grades
- how the appeals system should work.
- new regulatory arrangements
- running an autumn exam series
Julia Adamson, Director of Education at BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, said: “We know that cancellation of exams has been distressing to so many students and teachers and it’s important to get the right provision in place to award grades. The CAS network of teachers will have valuable insight and I would encourage as many of you as possible to share your views in the consultation.”
