What are we doing? We are introducing new branding to CAS. This includes new colours, a lovely new logo and a modern typeface – all of which better reflect the diverse and vibrant membership.
Why? The CAS Community is unique, it’s special – many, many, people share their time and expertise and many more benefit hugely from their generosity and we wanted to better represent this in our branding.
Sometime ago we enlisted the support of our industry partner, Arm, and with their expertise and generous support we have been able to prepare to new branding. More recently, the DfE funded National Centre for Computing Education provided an additional stimulus to review how CAS and the NCCE could coexist, complement and underpin one another. All our thinking and planning in relation to refreshing branding and messaging has been done independently of any other changes and initiatives.
What does the new branding look like? The Computing at School logo is the centrepiece of the brand’s identity. As it anchors to the brands core principles, vision and goals. We believe the new logo is a fresh, innovative and professional singular representation of Computing at School. With its emphasis on creating a sense of belonging through a connected and diverse community – each of the coloured icons represents an individual, the different colours standing for their different needs and backgrounds but coming together to celebrate our subject. We’ve kept the word Computing in bold to retain something of our former design which used two colours, but we’ve dropped the capital “a”.
The colours are clean, simple, fresh and up to date. They are neither masculine or feminine, critical for our community and the desire to ensure we are being as inclusive as we can, and they reflect the diverse nature of our community.
What does this mean for me? We will be implementing the branding gently over the coming weeks and months. We hope that you’ll be as excited as we are about this, please let us have your questions and feedback via email to email@example.com
