Bolton Parish Primary School
The beebots were used by a Year 1 class for the second half of the summer term, during the IPC topic, From A to B.
We began in the first week by familiarising ourselves with the commands and directions, working as a whole class and then in smaller groups, sending the beebot to various members of class.
After making our own plans of the playground, we then transferred some of these features to our own class beebot mat. We began to start thinking about the algorithms needed to get to each part of the playground. The children took turns in writing the algorithms and following these instructions to programme the beebot. During our two weeks of studying France, we changed the beebot mat into Parisian landmarks and again took turns thinking of the correct algorithms to get to various places.
The children really enjoyed using these beebots and certainly gained a greater understanding of using algorithms.
