Welcome to CAS Regional Centre North West - Manchester

The North West CAS Regional Centre (North West) is based at The University of Manchester. The Regional Centre is an initiative to build regional support for computing in all Primary and Secondary schools. It is run jointly by the University of Manchester (School of Computer Science) and Edge Hill University, and is funded by the Department of Education through BCS (CAS). Are you a member of CAS? Interested in forming a CAS hub? We are keen to support more hub groups to set up in the region so teachers don't have too far to travel to reach their nearest CAS hub meeting. There is plenty of information about what is involved in setting up and running a CAS hub here.     Python CPD - File Reading and Writing. The focus of this Hub meeting is to share good practice in teaching programming techniques such as file handling. The workshop will cover; Reading, Writing and Editing text file.

    This session is aim at introducing primary teacher to Barefoot website resources. There will be a demonstration of how to use some of the resources and help teachers register to the website.

  • Using iPad to develop Computational Thinking in EYFS/KS1

    Exploring ways of combining the use of popular iPad apps with promoting the development of early computational thinking skills. *Please note attendees will need to bring their own iPad with the following apps installed: I Can Animate, Greenscreen by DoInk
