The day started with an inspirational talk by Dr Gavin Brown. The year 9 pupils (and teachers) were awestruck by the session, with information about Artificial Intelligence and the reality of whether the robots really are coming to kill us! An inspiring talk that focused on science fact rather than science fiction including a review of what is really meant by the term "artificial intelligence" and about the ethics of this field in everyday society.
The day then broke up into different workshops covering GeoCraft, Lego Robots, Codebugs and Virtual Reality.
The pupils were given the chance to have a tour of The University of Manchester and ask Student Ambassadors any questions about studying a degree.
The event feedback showed that all the pupils enjoyed their day with particular mention to the different hands on opportunities.
The common theme throughout was that the pupils would have liked more!
